Sleep Medicine Updates
With the recent closure of the Minnesota Regional Sleep Center, HHS is in the early stages of expanding in-house sleep-related services. We are not currently providing formal sleep assessments, but we are working toward developing select capabilities over time.
Our Interim Plan
Dr. Elizabeth Goelz (RISE – Primary Care) is available to provide consults for residents and fellows with sleep-related concerns. Dr. Goelz will review the presentation of symptoms, offer initial management recommendations, and coordinate referrals to external sleep specialists or diagnostic services as needed.
How to Get Care
Fatigue Management Resources
National Sleep Foundation
The National Sleep Foundation has educational topics on sleep that may provide a basic foundation for common sleep disorders.
Resident Work Room Light Box
The Resident Work Room Light Box is an Evidence-Based Strategy for dealing with the circadian disruption of shift work.
GME Safe Transportation
HHS is committed to ensuring safe transportation home for trainees who have driven to work and are too fatigued or otherwise unfit to drive. The GME office will provide a taxi or rideshare from HHS or HHS training to the trainee’s home address and one ride back to the location or origin. GME Transportation.docx
